LOL - Maybe the minor age difference is the issue here - When I was a kid it was one of my most favourite books and I would spend hours in my "fort" reading it over and over, It was both scary and exciting. The illustrations have burned into my memory and I have stong feelings each time I see a Wild Thing ... I am so stoked to see the movie - It looks like its going to be rather true to the story.
